26 Life Lessons I’ve Learned in 26 Years

26 Life Lessons I’ve Learned in 26 Years

In the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful

I really enjoy taking a little bit of time in the beginning of this month to post something a bit more personal. I turn 26 today! In honor of that, I’ll be sharing 26 of the life lessons I’ve learned until now. Before jumping into the lessons, please note that they are in no particular order. I think all of these lessons are super important.

The thing about life lessons is that they tend to repetitively show their face until you’ve learned it sufficiently. While this post is simply sharing some lessons I’ve learned, I hope that a few of these are beneficial to you and that at least one of these lessons is one that you need to receive right now and are at a place where you’ll be able to accept it.

1. You owe it to yourself and your loved ones to be vulnerable.

2. Consistency is key!

3. It is healthy and necessary to have firm boundaries!

4. You are not responsible for other people’s feelings. Neither are they responsible for your feelings.

5. Rather than seek perfection, seek excellence.

6. Take care of your skin.

7. Let go of what no longer serves you.

8.  Love yourself now – not when you reach a certain weight or goal… right now.

9. You have time for what you make time for.

10. It is beneficial for your child, even as a toddler, to have some time to play alone.

11. Nature is absolutely healing.

12. You can’t have everything all at once (and that’s okay).

13. Embrace the stretches; growth happens just outside of your comfort level.

14. Intuition is a powerful thing so listen intently and follow through.

15. Our goals shift sometimes as we go through life and that’s wonderful.

16. Create more than you consume.

17. Healing and wellness is more of an on-going journey than a destination.

18. Your body doesn’t need sugar!

19. Take breaks as needed to the extent necessary..but be sure to get back to it.

20. Be clear on your definitions – your boundaries, values, goals, vision.

21. You are responsible for your own happiness.

22. Saying no in a way that is respectful of yourself and others is much better than saying yes when it is adding to your resentment.

23. Wealth is what you have leftover once the money is gone.

24. You don’t have to have an opinion on everything.

25. Practice intentional gratitude and you’ll notice your list of things to be grateful for will grow.

26. Pray radically. About every little thing. Then trust God.

That’s it for today. I hope you have a beautiful day, a prayerful week and a bountiful year!

Question for the day: What is the life lesson you’ve learned so far that stands out for you the most?
