Welcome back

So we’re starting off this year with 2 relatively unique posts and then next week, we’ll get back to our normal course of business. Last post was all about my favorite thrift-finds of 2021 and today we’re talking about my favorite non-thrifted purchases.

It’s pretty straight forward so we’re just going to hop right to it…

1. These metal and glass kitchen containers.

I’m LOVING these containers and they’re definitely a favorite purchase. First, I really like that they’re not plastic – they’re stainless steel casing and the actual canister is glass. They’re sturdy and they look lovely on my shelf. I have two packs of these and I’m thinking about getting another. In the tallest two, I keep rice. I have my coffee in one, lentils in another, and beans in a few of them.

2. My NordicWare bread pan.

I was gifted this bread pan and I’m loving it. It’s sturdy, it’s not rusting or changing color. I’m gradually shifting all of my bake ware over. I really appreciate that it’s a longstanding company, durable cookware and it’s a US based business.

3. Books, of course.

In case you haven’t noticed, I absolutely love books. So of course books are going to be on my favorite purchases list.. I thrifted a good bunch and I picked up a couple others as well. Namely, these;

Mothering The New Mother

The First 40 Days

Joy Jots

For The Children’s Sake

Curing Tooth Decay

4. This Braun epilator.

I was using disposable razors, I tried sugar waxing…it wasn’t really working for me. Then I decided I really wanted to try an epilator and I’m not looking back. This is the one I got and it has been lovely. It takes some time to get into a routine with it and it surely doesn’t tickle. I love that it doesn’t take a super long time, it’s not a bunch of pieces and steps…and I can go a few weeks in between having to take care of body hair.

5. Klean Kanteen water bottle.

I’m getting myself one next but after going through a couple different water bottles and considering a bunch of different ones, I got my son one this year. I really appreciate that it’s metal, insulated and it’s just the perfect size. I also love that there are different lid options – right now, we use the one that’s on there… but I love that they even have ‘sippy-style’ lids.

6. Self-adhesive laminating sheets.

I know, what an odd thing to be on a favorites list… but let me explain. These laminating sheets are lovely for making all of my routines available to use with a dry-erase marker. I use it to make my toddler’s routine more durable. I’m really enjoying these. I’ll definitely be buying more, especially as we get into some more homeschooling.

7. This 12 pack of natural henna cones.

Another odd-ball item but I really enjoy henna. I got this for an Eid picnic back in August and I’m still working my way through the pack. It’s natural, the stain is pretty good and the price is good. The only downside is the color of the cone comes off a little bit on your hand sometimes.

8. Bissell Featherweight Stick Bagless vacuum.

Okay, I think every home with a toddler should have one of these. It is so easy to pull out, no bag which makes it so easy to empty, you just clean the filter, and…your toddler can use it. You can take off the handle and it’s toddler-size. It has accessories. I love it. Now I’m going to say, you should probably have a secondary vacuum if you have a lot of carpet but it is great for it’s price.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Maybe found something you’d like to try. Next week, we’re back to our regular schedule of posts…all things womanhood, parenting and intentionally simple living. I’ll be sharing our toddler bedtime routine…for little Muslim children.
