We talked a few days ago about how to get our kiddos involved in this beautiful month of Ramadan…and I told you that I’d be back to share some specific resources we love for kiddos. I’m back to deliver…so here are 15 resources for you to check out. You’ll find some books, some nasheeds and a couple craft projects to try.

1. It’s Ramadan Curious George

This is our favorite Ramadan book we’ve read so far. Curious George of course is a classic, fun book for little children. This book doesn’t include problematic themes or words and it’s overall quite lovely. I give 5 out of 5 stars and we’ve turned back to this book every Ramadan for the past three years.

2. Under The Ramadan Moon

Easily our second favorite Ramadan book, although I’m sure that might change as we expand our options. It’s a lovely book and not just for little children, I think this can be enjoyable for the entire family. I give this a 4 out of 5 stars.

3. Ramadan

This book has Turkish vibes to me. I like that there are bits of information woven in – such as Ramadan being the ninth month. I like that they talk about a couple things that come up with Ramadan, such as checking in with our priorities, taking care of others, etc. I do have mixed feelings about the heavy emphasis on Ramadan being about people who are less fortunate…because I don’t agree with that narrative. But overall, it’s a 3.5 stars from me. Another book, I’m not sure we’ll pick up again…but we’re enjoying it right now.

4. My First Ramadan

This book is nice – the illustrations are cute. It’s not a permanent favorite but of the books we’ve explored, this is one of the better one’s. I’d say it’s a 3 out of 5. We probably won’t pick it up again but it’s a fun read for this year.

5. Rashad’s Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr

This is a nice book. I give it a 3 out of 5 stars. There is the actual story and on the side, there are also little facts about Islam and Ramadan. I don’t think it’s one we’ll be picking back up next year but we’re enjoying it as we get ready for Ramadan this year.

6. Ramadan Moon by Yusuf Islam and children

7. It’s Time to Go to The Masjid by Yusuf Islam and children

8. We’ve Scanned The Sky by Dawud Wharnsby

9. Ramadan is Here by Native Deen

10. The Seerah Song by Zain Bikha

11. Moon sighting binoculars.

Moon sighting is a big part of welcoming in Ramadan and closing out the month as well. These little binoculars are so adorable and can be so easy to make. Remember, as with all of these projects, it’s about the connection time, the fun and the process – not the outcome.

12. Crescent and star paper plate craft.

You can’t really go wrong with a good old fashioned crescent and star craft.

13. Good deeds tree.

I love the idea of providing a physical representation of your toddler/small child’s good deeds. Seeing those leaves fill up their tree can provide motivation to make an active effort to do more good deeds and also, it’s a great opportunity to talk about all of our deeds being written down, etc.

14. Eid cards for family and friends.

You have so much flexibility with making Eid cards with your little one’s.. Use some construction paper and markers/crayons/paint. Printout a cute little pattern to decorate. Again, you really can’t go wrong with this. This could even be a daily activity – making an Eid card for all your family and friends.

15. Sadaqah jars

This is a great little project to talk about generosity and the importance of charity. Once your little one decorates it, they’ll be very excited to start adding coins to their jar. Then at the end of the month, they can donate it to the Masjid or something of that nature. A fun activity…and a great opportunity for a good deed.

I hope that you’ve found a few activities for you and your lovely little’s. Let me know in the comments if you have a favorite Ramadan resource to share with all of us.
