Now to go into a little more depth…

Why choose Burley?

My husband loves cycling and I really enjoy it as well! We also have made a goal to work on commuting more by bike, whenever we’re able to! Between those things, even before our son was born we always knew we wanted to get a bike trailer so that we’d be able to go for rides as a family!

We had already decided on the brand we wanted to purchase from way before we actually got our bike trailer. I really like that the company specializes in making commuting by bike easier. Not saying there’s anything wrong with the other companies.. I just really appreciate that they found their niche and really have stuck to it. Focusing on one area has really allowed them to dive deeply in creating some awesome stuff!

Their materials are great quality. Very durable, weather friendly and user friendly. Despite it’s durability, it is very light and easy to work with.

Another big thumbs up!

Another big thumbs-up for Burley comes from how versatile and expandable their stuff is! Not only do they have many different models to choose from, depending on what you’re planning on using it for, they have many accessories to spruce up whatever you do get so that you can maximize comfort and usability! There are 2 things in particular that we’ll make me truly appreciate this quality of there’s! The baby snuggler attachment and the bunting bag! We don’t really need them right now, but they’re both on our list for the future.

We’ve also purchased a Burley flat-bed trailer for when we go get groceries or things like that. Although we’ve only used that once or twice, it’s also great quality and serves us wonderfully for the purposes we’ve bought it for.

Overall, we think the Burley brand is a pretty great company! Again, this is not sponsored! We’ve just had a great experience with them so far.

Let’s go for a bumpy ride!

Okay, let’s get those “cons” out of the way! We were looking between a few different models before choosing the Honeybee. We decided that we wouldn’t need any of the fancier upgrades, though they are cool (and have prettier colors lol)! The main thing that really took a few days when making our decision though, was whether the lack of suspension would be a big deal for us.. As you can tell by this post, we decided to give it a go without the suspension!

While, both the cyclist and the child in the trailer can definitely feel the lack of suspension, it hasn’t been an issue for us. Instead of asking to go for a bike ride, our little guy requests a “bumpy ride”. All that to say, though there is a strong possibility that we’ll want to upgrade to a model WITH suspension in the future, we’re quite content. I mention it as a con only because I know that can be a big thing for some people so I thought it fair to mention.

As for the other con, the lack of helmet space for the kiddo.. We’re managing fine but you can tell that there’s just enough room! His helmet adjusts a little bit over the course of our ride. I also feel like he doesn’t have much room to look around during our rides. He hasn’t complained about it, so I’m assuming he’s fine for now though.

Overall, we’re LOVING our Honeybee..

To start from the beginning, I was very surprised with how easy it was to assemble our bike trailer! I was also pleasantly surprised that it was just as easy to connect it to my bike! I knew that it would be tough for me to stick to riding as often as I wanted to, if it was difficult to get out the door and onto the road, so I’m very content with that aspect!

So far we’ve rode almost 30 miles with the trailer! It is super light to pull behind you! I hardly feel any extra weight! It’s also very quiet and smooth (aside from going over bumpy, rigid pavement)!

What about storage?

In between rides, it folds up almost flat and is super easy to store. We keep our wheels inside the trailer with the little tow bar right beside it and it fits perfectly inside our utility closet along with our bikes. It also fits very comfortably in the trunk of our van.

It has plenty of space within the trailer itself: the Honeybee is a 2-seater and it can hold up to 100 pounds. There is a good amount of leg room and if your child, like mine, wants to bring a toy along with them for the ride, there’s room for that too. There’s also a designated storage compartment behind the seat, with a nice bit of space for water bottles, snacks, a change of clothes for your baby/toddler or even a couple bags.

Finally…

To end this review, I want to just mention how awesome it is that the Burley Honeybee converts seamlessly into a jogging stroller! Unhook your bike (make sure you lock it up) and simply bring the wheel into the proper position and you’re ready to take your stroller into the store, across the street or on a little jog!

To sum it up, we really don’t have any true complaints about our trailer! We absolutely love our Honeybee; we love even more the opportunities it has opened up for us as a family! We’re really enjoying being able to go on bike rides as a family and our Burley trailer is a big part of making that possible for us.
